Thanks for the update. I haven't had time to really look so no worries. I'll plan to get to it this weekend coming. Is the will available through Ancestry?  Best Jeanette

Weston Gazette not the Mercury - 1939
published by Pat Hase - 9 years 1 months 19 days ago.

I will send a photo directly to you - but Dave Tyler found it for you in the Weston Gazette - there was nothing in the Weston Mercury and although the photo is not very clear it doesn't look as if they are throwing their hats into the air!  The description under the photograph in the Gazette reads:

"Mr Harry Alfred FERRIER and Miss Lilian Margaret ROBIN [sic] were married at Weston-super-Mare Register Office on Wednesday afternoon - and greeted by a guard of honour of the bridegroom's Fleet Air Arm colleagues"

Hi Jeanette,

I want to apologise for misleading you with regards to supplying you with the wrong Ann Urch.

I have just transcribed Thomas Urch's Will, he was Nancy Urch's father (Ann Urch). He mentions James Flatcher in his Will but I don't believe there was a great liking for him as he was emphatic any monies should go to his daughter and not James, his son in law.

Nancy Urch was baptised in Puxton on the 5 January 1783 but the family were living in Banwell.

If you need any more info just let me know and once again I am sorry for giving you wrong research.

Alun Urch

Thanks Pat (and volunteers) that's most appreciated.

Their names were Lilian Robins and Harry Ferrier. Harry was from London and met Lilian whan he was stationed for training at RAF Locking. (He was a Royal Navy Air Mechanic).

Regards,

Andrew Ferrier

The British Newspaper Archives has promised to add the Weston Mercury to its online catalogue but nothing yet.  They have started with the Weston Gazette which is available from 1845 - 1856 at the moment.  However both papers are available on film in Weston Library and as you know the actual date of the marriage perhaps one of our volunteers may have time to find it during the Help Session on Saturday.  What are the names of your grandparents?

James Flatcher
published by Urch - 9 years 1 months 23 days ago.

If it helps James THATCHER/FLATCHER is mentioned in the will of Thomas Urch who married Elizabeth Say and he died 1834. His daughter Nancy (Ann) of Banwell was baptized in Puxton in 1783. When James Flatcher married, his wife is listed as Ann rather than Nancy.

Good luck with your search.
