Pike family published by Eddie Prest - 6 years 9 months 7 days ago. | | Hi Derek,
I too am researching the Pike family. Are we perhaps related somehow?
My grandfather was George Richard Charles Pike, born in Weston super Mare in 1892. He was one of 13 children, born to Alexander James Pike, from 2 marriages - the first being to Mary Ann Flower, the second to Sarah Maria Ann Dance. Three of the children died in childhood.
I have no knowledge of any Australian relatives, but you never know.
It would be good to know if your family matches up with any branch of mine.
North Somerset council will probably hold the parish records by the way, but the other link posted looks better for a follow up first.
My mother, now in her 90’s, seems to remember visiting a Pike relative in Clevedon, so you never know!
Regards
Eddie Prest

Pikes in Clevedon St Andrews published by - 6 years 9 months 7 days ago. | | Hi Derek
I found one of my forebears at St Andrews via one of the local Clevedon Facebook group a couple of years ago. I can't find the link now, but on the St Andrews Church website there is a link to Helen Pegg via the church office (which I understand may not have anyone there now until next Tuesday); but I also found on the website a link to finding graves for a given family name, and when I put in the name of Pike, 3 names came up. Try the link, I hope it works for you.

Pike Family published by Eddie Prest - 6 years 9 months 11 days ago. | | Since last year much has developed. I have found that Edmunds father was a Richard Pike who came from an illegitimate liaison between a Mary Pike and a Richard Stock - both of whom are from Pilton. I can find no record of Richard Stock’s death. I am looking for records in the late 1700’s. Help!

Cardiff Arms published by - 6 years 9 months 16 days ago. | | I visited the Cardiff Arms many times between 1963 and 1964 as I was stationed at RAF
Locking. Tommy Banwell was indeed working there and was a snappy dresser. His sister, Mrs Yates, was then the publican. I know this because I used to date Mrs Yates daughter, Janet Yates. Janet was 19 years old and a very attractive girl. Anyway she dumped me and we went our seperate ways. I returned to RAF Locking in 1965 for a 6-week course and Tommy, Mrs Yates and Janet were still there. I returned again in 1968 and the pub appeared derelict and I found out that Tommy had died. To my knowledge Tommy was never the publican. | |
