I have just started to develop a family tree. My grandfather was George Richard Charles Pike born in wsm in 1892. My great grandfather was Alexander James Pike, born in 1847/8, died in 1900. Alexander and family lived in Rose Lawn (now the Citizens Advice Bureau), having purchased it from Hans Price. My grandfather's brother William E Pike lived in wsm all his life, lastly in Bleadon. His wife was Edith, my grandfather's wife was Lillian. Alexander was married twice, first to Mary Ann Flower in 1869, then to Sarah Maria Ann Dance in 1890. There were ten children, five from each marriage. Can anyone expand this thread at all please?

According to the Parish record on Ancestry, Alexander James PIKE married Sarah Maria Ann DANCE at WsM Holy Trinity on 6 April 1890. His father was Edmund William PIKE, a Sadler. There is a copy of a birth certificate attached to a Family Tree on Ancestry showing the birth of James Alexander (sic) PIKE on 30 April 1847 in Ilchester. The parents are recorded as Edmund William PIKE and Ann Baron PIKE (nee LOVELL).

Since last year much has developed. I have found that Edmunds father was a Richard Pike who came from an illegitimate liaison between a Mary Pike and a Richard Stock - both of whom are from Pilton. I can find no record of Richard Stock’s death. I am looking for records in the late 1700’s.  Help!

Hi Marion

I was born in WSM and lived at 1 Clifton Road until about 1955 when we moved to Wales. We used to have a family called Pike living in 1 Clifton Road with us - Mr and Mrs Pike and 2 daughters, Rosemary and Linda. I have a very few photos of Rosemary and Linda taken on the sands. Might they be part of your family? Mr Pike was a merchant seaman.

Best wishes
