SPERRIN OR SPERRING

Where was your SPERRIN or SPERRING family in the 1700s? Mine was in East and West Harptree at that time.

WILLCOCKS

This is a surname which can be entered as WILCOX - His baptism is in St Johns Church transcriptions along with several of his siblings on the same day in 1873 but entered without the "S". His burial is included in the Milton Road Cemetery Transcriptions. Is there anything in particular you are looking for?

Splendid research, as usual, Pat. What a diverse set of occupations these Weston Worthies had...

I'm sure that you are right with this Harriet PARSLEY - thank you.  It would make sense for her to be sent away to school with a new step-father about.  I expect Hugh was at a school somewhere as well.

Hi Pat,

Ah okay on Hugh - I didn't know that. I can see there is a Harriet Parsley listed on the 1851 census as a pupil at a private school somewhere in Westbury-on-Trym. Transcribed as born at Christon - so that might fit. The school is possibly Shirehampton Ladies' School that was run by Harriet Snelling and Ellen Dixon (also listed in the same census record).

Hallo Pat

Excellent talk last night - fascinating stories from Burlington Street. I'm afraid I misled you concerning my Jackway family at No.15.  The article with Sue for publication in the journal relates to an earlier generation of the Jackway family who were still in Winscombe.  Apologies for the confusion!

Thanks again for such an interesting talk.

Regards

Julie
