I agree, Pat - if you're stuck with researching your ancestors it can be very worthwhile contacting the local history group, for where they were living, to see what they can offer you.

Just to follow-up on this. Bernard's sister, Rosella Mary Kopp, died at Margate on 25 October 1954, and names Bernard as an executor (and Joseph Ernest Kopp). Her will might reveal Bernard's address. If it names him at Clevedon then that at least lowers the date range that they could be at Yatton.

For those who don't know Fold3 (Ancestry military records) access is free this weekend (28-31 May).

These records crop up more and more often on Ancestry searches these days and it is a good idea (to avoid spending even more money) to paste the links of the records into a spreadsheet or similar and then when these free access days crop up - which they do from time to time - access the records for free  and copy them.

Thank you Richard, I have passed that message on and they are grateful for your help and can remember visiting them in Yatton in the 1950s.
