CommentsDouglas Albert Dugdale published by - 9 years 2 months 19 days ago. | | Thanks so much.. Yes, it could have been my father, who was in the school Sport event in 1939.
My grandfather was married to Isabel Emmeline Bateman Warren who died in Edinburgh Scotland. Leaving 2 daughters, Dorothy and Phyllis.. He then married Margaret Rymer (who was born in Scotland), and had my Aunt Molly (1923) and my Dad, Douglas (1924).
I'm hoping to find a grave or headstone of Douglas Albert Dugdale.

Douglas Albert DUGDALE published by Pat Hase - 9 years 2 months 20 days ago. | | It is difficult to answer this not knowing how much you already know. Margaret was quite a bit younger that her husband (see date of birth on 1939 Register on Findmypast). If you look at the census records you will see that Douglas Albert DUGDALE was previously married to an Isabel and they had at least two children. An image of the certificate of this marriage in 1891 can be seen on Ancestry via the London Metropolitan Archives.
If you look at the British Newspaper Archives which are available as part of the Findmypast Subscription you will see that a D DUGDALE came 2nd in the 400 yards race in the Clevedon School Sports in 1939 - your father?
For local knowledge about Clevedon take a look at the Web site of the Local History Group of the Clevedon Civic Society

Henry FARLER published by AnnT - 9 years 2 months 23 days ago. | | Entry #798 in the St. Paul's Burials 1838-1894 is listed as Henry "FURLER", but I think it's my great great grandfather Henry FARLER, who died on 5 December 1893, aged 67, in Kewstoke. Please could someone check the original to see what it says?
Thanks,
Ann

Kewstoke Convalescent Home published by - 9 years 2 months 23 days ago. | | Many thanks. That's reassuring. It was the phrase "...records held in the Village Hall..." which, as someone concerned about preservation of old records, set alarm bells ringing. There was no indication that I read signifying Keystoke Convalescent Home records kept in village hall were not original primary records. | |
My Somerset Families published by daveerasmus - 9 years 2 months 24 days ago. | | Hi Chris. I did a "wide" search on FamilySearch. That is I used a 30 year spread for the date of marriage and I specified England as the country, but I did not specify a county or parish. All I can say is that it worked for me.

My Somerset Families published by - 9 years 2 months 24 days ago. | | Thanks Pat,I've got the information from the internet but it wasn't the full transcription so wasn't sure it was right as Christopher is the first child I can find for the couple and that would make Lawrence 40+. Not impossible but unlikely.
I think I will have to bite the bullet and pay for full membership. Dad was a member of Somerset FHS for many years and did a lot of transcribing for the society, but our family History takes me to many parts of the country and the subscriptions all add up!!
