bryant published by - 8 years 7 months 15 days ago. | | Hello, Findmypast have 1939 register. Gives George born31/Aug/1880. Lives 5East End terrace, Long Ashton, with Gladys, born 1/Apr/1904, and (I assume) her father Frederick Hooper, born3/Jan/1876. Two records are still closed until proof of death is provided. On Ancestry, a family tree for this family has the name O'Rourke-Ludlow, being researched by mrs Ludlow. Worth a try? Good luck, Sylvia

Meacham published by - 8 years 7 months 16 days ago. | | Hi Chris: I don't know if this is the same family that I am researching but I will tell you my details. I am looking for a Thomas (Meacham, Meatchem, Meecham, Mitchem, Mitcham). There are multiple spellings for the last name. He was born between 1785 and 1791 in Whitestaunton or Chard in Somerset. In 1818 he is in Honiton, Devon area. He lives in Offwell, Devon. I am trying to find a birth for him and also the names of his parents.
I just thought I would see if this is maybe the same family you are researching.
Any information you have will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

George Bryant published by - 8 years 7 months 16 days ago. | | Hi Julie
According to the index entry of his death certificate on FreeBMD, his middle initial was H & he was 63 when he died in 1945, which puts his birth year around 1882. Do you know if he moved around at all? Again on FreeBMD I found three George H Bryants born in Somerset around the right time period, one in Bridgwater & two in Keynsham. I found this 1891 Census entry, I wouldn't know if this is the right person though

It looks like there was a
The most recent census data out there is for 1911 which makes it trickier. Regardless, you probably know more about this than I do, as I only had a quick look.
I also found that he had two daughters with Gladys, Margery & Stella both registered in Long Ashton but being his granddaughter you must have already know that.

BRAIN and VEAL Families published by Pat Hase - 8 years 7 months 17 days ago. | | It doesn't look as if your BRAIN family lived in Weston for very long but they did have another child while living here apart form the ones metioned on the censuses. Albert Edward BRAIN was born in about June 1872 but died just 3 months later and was buried in Weston Cemetery (Milton Rd Cemetery) in a grave in the unconsecrated part which makes me think that the family were non-conformist. I can't immediately find any C of E christenings for their other children in our Weston transcriptions. Neither could I find any baptism at the Victoria Methodist Chapel in Weston - their register is on Familysearch at Batch number C17024-1
I see from a newspaper account in the Western Daily Press of 13th Aug 1869 that when the Wotton under Edge Original Band of Hope and Temperance Society held their fete the Band and Choir were under the control of Albert BRAIN and whose son, William, aged 3 years 9 months, played the drums! William was of course born in Weston.
