CommentsJohn SIMONS published by Pat Hase - 7 years 1 months 27 days ago. | | I'm glad you found that article useful. John SIMONS was buried in Weston Cemetery. In the Burial Register he was entered as SYMONS but the details of his burial are in our transcriptions of Weston-super-Mare Milton Road Cemetery Burials 1856-1896 which can be seen online under Milton Road Cemetery. We also have a record of a memorial inscription which was on his grave but is no longer visible - it included an Ursula SIMONS who died in 1907, aged 77 and a Private Walter SIMONS of the Somerset Light Infantry who was killed 2nd July 1916 aged 37.
There are some photographs on display at the Old Weston Quarry - you might try the North Somerset Studies Library to see if they have any in their local history resources.

STAR Family Tree published by - 7 years 1 months 28 days ago. | | Hi Wendy
My name is Peter Bernard Thompson and my grand father was Horatio (Bert) Thompson and he married Bridget Elizabeth Star, and my Great Great Grandfather was William Thomas Star and he married Susan McTague (my spelling is McTeague). It looks like we are related. We were in England and passed through Draycott in October 2017, knowing that my great grandfather came form there. We would love to correspond with you also.

Richard OGBORN published by - 7 years 1 months 29 days ago. | | I suspected that Whitling Street may be out of the parish and wondered how he had escaped the fee. Could it be that he died in Whitling Street?

Richard OGBORN published by Pat Hase - 7 years 2 months 0 day ago. | | I agree with you - it does look like "Weedling" but that could have been a result of a Somerset accent saying "Whitling". The main road through Nempnett on the censuses seems to have been entered as simply "The Street".

Richard OGBORN published by Pat Hase - 7 years 2 months 0 day ago. | | Thank you both for your interest in my problem. There is a Whitling Street in the adjacent parish of Winford so that looks a likely candidate for his address. This handwriting is certainly a challenge but it does give some additional information - if you can read it! Presumably Rchard was suffering from Dropsy and if he was living outside the parish he must have had close contacts with Nempnett Thrubwell for him to be buried there without additional payment if other entries on the page are taken into account.
Many thanks

I think it is Weedling Street published by Les Martels - 7 years 2 months 0 day ago. | | I think it is Weedling Street as the W looks the same as that for Wingfield a few lines above and it definitely ends ... dling. Can't find any such name on an old map for Nempnett Thrubwell either. Looks a very small village with few roads in it.
