Are you connected with William & Hannah GOULD who lived in the High Street in the early 19th C? Their portraits are included in the "Weston Worthies" collection - as is that of Ann or Nancy BURGE nee GOULD.

I have mentioned this in previous monthly updates but just a reminder about the Family History Show in Bristol tomorrow, Saturday July 6th  It's always a benefit to attend these shows to see the support which is available to us for our Family History Reseaarch. 

Just to start things off - The 1952 Kelly's  Directory of Weston-super-Mare has the following entry.

Locking Road

• Holloway Claude Leslie (Langtree)
• Holloway Mrs. A. ladies' hairdresser (Langtree)
• Holloway & Son, printers (Langtree)

       It is likely that he came from either Barking Abbey School or Mitcham County School.  Accounts of life at the Weston County School can be found in the book "A school in the Forties" by Alec Kingsmill, himself evacuated from Mitcham County School.              

In 1851 there is a Mary Ann SIMMONS, aged 20, a scullery maid, at the Somerset Hotel, High Street Wells.  But her birthplace is given as Wells.  I can't find a birth in Wells for a Mary Ann SIMMONS or variant so could this be who I'm looking for?  Any suggestions?

Many thanks to both you and Graham - I'm really grateful.  It just goes to show how discussion can help solve a problem.  Will now try to get back beyond Elizabeth and perhaps meet up with your Nicolas COLESWORTHY in Pitminster - that's only about 15 miles from Over Stowey.

On reflection, I also agree. I have looked on FreeReg and Findmypast for a confirmatory transcription, but without success.
