Thank you for commenting.  Have you tried this guide to researching POW records on the National Archives?  https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/british-prisoners-second-world-war-korean-war/

Thank-you for the newsletter and its variation which is fab!

I read with interest the ALHA newsletter and found the link for North Somerset maps excellent, it should keep me busy for a while ;-)

I have had an interest in the WW for many years

My wife’s father was in the WW1 and and was wounded and survived in WW2 as an officer guarding the aircraft factory here in Weston

My mum was widowed after her first husband was killed soon after the   D DAY Landings widowed with a son at the age of 21 then bombed out of their home in Teddington by a V1 or a V2

My father and mother separated when I was very young so I did not know him at all the point of this is that at my mum’s funeral I was told that my father was a POW for 2Years I did not know this and I feel that the problems of their marriage may well have been bought on by His War experience (I shall never know)

Is it Wonderstone or Understone at Bleadon?

Yes, definitely.. you can often learn a lot by looking at the originals rather than transcripts and checking the pages before and after the record you are interested in.

My mum was also a skilled needlewoman and made all my clothes - I just wish that I had kept some of the smocked dresses she made me.  She could make dresses, nighties, curtains, bedspreads, loose chair covers - she made her outfit (inc hat) when she was a debutante and was presented to the Queen (does that still happen?).

If anyone has items for the AGM agenda please let the secretary, Brian Airey, know what they are.

I've been watching the 'Musem of Us' - it certainly seems to get the locals together and talking: shame, really, that they are only 'pop-up' displays and not permanent.
