You might try the North Somerset Library in Weston - there is an extensive photographic collection there which may include some concerning the postal service.

There is also a possibility that when he retired or died there might have been an article accompanied with a photograph in one of the local newspapers which are available on film in Weston Library.  You would need the date of these events to make the search easier.  I can see from our Cemetery CD that he died 28April 1951 and was buried in the Milton Road Cemetery.

Thomas ELLAWAY

According to the British Newspaper Archive (available free in some libraries and also on Findmypast) the marriage between a Thomas ELLAWAY and Alice was dissolved in 1945 when he was living in the Winscombe area.  Earlier, in 1937, they had a Judical Separation with his address given as Cheddar.  Might not be the same man but might be worth checking out.

Thanks ever so much for the reply - I have been pondering that same question, because at this marriage he would have been in his seventies. There is a marriage of a Thomas E Ellaway to an Alice Bailey in Mar. quarter 1923, that is also a possible. I guess the only way to confirm is to order the marriage certificate to check father's details.
