Members Surname Interests - Keedwell
published by David Hollins - 6 years 11 months 0 day ago.

I too have Keedwell ancestors who I have traced back to Thomas Keedwell bapt 28 Oct 1792 in Blagdon.  He was the son of Stephen Keedwell and Mary Wookey who married in Hinton Blewitt on 30 Oct 1788.  I believe this Stephen Keedwell may have been baptised on 5 Aug 1764 in Chew Magna son of Joseph and Margaret Keedwell and was wondering whether you have come across this line of the family.  If so I would love to hear from you with a view to sharing research.

Burnham and Highbridge Phone/Street directories

I haven't an answer to this query. I suggest you try the North Sedgemoor Local History Group which meet in Burnham.  Details about how to contact them can be found on the site of the Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society which lists associated societies.  Electoral Rolls for the 1950/60s might also be a source of information - enquire at the South West Heritage Trust where you could see those.

Anstice Terrace W-s-M

Yes, you are quite correct, Anstice Terrace was renamed as Alexander Parade.  I think that 2 Anstice Terrace would have been near the Prince of Wales Public House.  Can anyone confirm this?

SOMERSET ARCHIVE BASTARDY BONDS

Thank you, Pat, for this extremely useful information, which leads me to another question.  Can anyone recommend a really reliable researcher for Somerset Archives?  I'm unable to make the journey to Somerset to research for myself so I would prefer to use someone who comes with a recommendation.

JACKWAY/JAKEWAY Bastardy Bonds

The Somerset Archive Catalogue of the South West Heritage Trust contains some Bastardy Orders for  1737-1834 for the Winscombe Parish which might prove interesting so might the Overseers' Accounts for the same period.  The full range of records for the Winscombe Parish can be seen here .

Phillips Family of Worle

I don't know if it helps but a lot of my Weston super Mare Hodges family married in Bristol between 1840s and 1860s.  There appears to be no reason for this, they subsequently lived in Weston.  I wonder if it was considered smart and fashionable to marry in a larger church.
