George RADFORD marriage
published by on Tue, 03/06/2014 - 23:04

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my search for the marriage of George RADFORD (1805 - 1876)?

I believe George was baptised in Puxton in 1805.  He married Sarah and had at least 8 children.  The children were all baptised between 1831 and 1848 in Kewstoke.  The 1841, 1851 & 1861 census show George and Sarah living in Kewstoke (George was an agricultural labourer).  George was buried in 1876 in Kewstoke.

I cannot find a surname for Sarah but believe she is from Congresbury, born 1805ish.  She died in 1868 and is buried in Kewstoke.

I have searched for their marriage in the transcripts for Kewstoke, Puxton, Congresbury, St. John's WSM, Banwell, Worle, Uphill & Hutton with no luck.  Could you suggest where else I might find marriage information?

thank you

Bath Marriages
published by on Mon, 02/06/2014 - 10:01

Another question.  Why would persons living in Nailsea, particularly marry in Bath.

Elizabeth Urch, born 1842 in Nailsea, working as a housemaid in 1861 in WsM, marriage in Bath in Sep 1861 to Sidney John Fenton.  Given that she was 18 and therefore under age why not Bristol?  And after being widowed in 1870, she was in 1871 "Housekeeper" to Jacob Harding in Nailsea.  Elizabeth being then 28 and Jacob 70, they also married in Bath, in 1872.

Anyone any ideas?

James Edward Glover

Hi,
my name is Mieczyslaw Abramowicz, I'm a historian and writer from Danzig/Poland. Now I'm writing a book on the certain people who once died in Danzig. Among my heroes is an English sailor, James Edward Glover, who died in an accident in Danzig in September 4, 1905. He served in HMS Russell. He was born July 9, 1870 in Weston-super-Mare.
I am looking for any information on James Edward Glover and his family. Maybe some of his family lives. Maybe there are some documents of James Edward Glover, some photos, anything.

Sarah Young
published by on Fri, 30/05/2014 - 7:56

I may be forever asking questions.

I am looking for Sarah Young, born about 1790, I believe in Nailsea.  My first question, are there any baptism records covering this date?

Sarah married James Evans 1815 in Nailsea and then Jacob Harding 1826 in St James, Bristol.

The name Young occurs frequently attached to the Harding family in and around Nailsea and my curiosity is aroused.

Any information gratefully received.

Harding in Nailsea
published by on Wed, 28/05/2014 - 16:32

My 3xgreat grandfather was, I believe, Thomas Harding born abt 1797.  I know that he married Jane Pool at Holy Trinity in Nailsea 9 Apr 1821.  Despite searching Nailsea records for some years now, I have not been able to find a birth and I am at a loss to know where to look.  As far as I can tell Thomas and Jane had 5 children, Martha, Mary, Jacob, Mary and Benjamin, all born in Nailsea between 1822 and 1830.  I also believe that Thomas was the brother of Jacob Harding, born about 1800 in Nailsea, Charles Harding who married Mary Thorne in 1819 may also have been another brother.

Any suggestions gratefully received

James White circa 1801-1853 Hutton
published by on Sun, 25/05/2014 - 14:48
I'm researching my family tree and have become slightly stuck on finding out more information concerning my 3rd Great Grandfather James White of Hutton 1801-1853. I can't find any baptism records for him, however I have been able to successfully locate other details.

He married Anne Fear on 9th August 1824 and he was buried at St Marys in 1853, along with many other Whites.

Is James White the brother of Reuben and Charles White, sons of James and Anstence White?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, if I could find the baptism record then I think this would significantly help. There are so many Whites in Hutton at this time and narrowing down where James White comes from is proving difficult.
