I may have asked a variation of this question before but several seem to have disappeared since the restart. So....
I have a marriage 16/06/1751 of Moses YEATES & Jane MARSHALL in Bedminster Somerset.
Moses YEATES was buried in Bedminster (Bedminster Down) 17/01/1788 aged 57 making his birth c1731. Where did he and his family come from before 1751? After that date those relevant to me are in Bedminster, Dundry, Barrow Gurney, Long Ashton, Winford and immediate surrounds. They aren't in those places before 1751. I've also tried Axbridge, Blagdon, Butcombe, Clutton, Chew Magna, Cheddar, Nailsea, Ubley, Wedmore and others. I've done "Yeates", "Yates" varations and plain "Moses" searches for Somerset on FreeReg and similar. Nothing.
There is someone who has a Moses Yates b.1735 in Cricklade, Wilts, but I haven't found the records for myself. If I find that record, how plausible that Moses would move from there to Bedminster? I'm presuming ours is a labourer but have nothing to confirm that.
Jane MARSHALL was buried as YEATES in Bedminster (Bedminster Down) 26/03/1780. I haven't found an age recorded at death.
Other family researchers have Jane MARSHALL as bap 01/04/1734 in Nempnett Thrubwell of William & Ann. I haven't found those parish records but have found the records on FreeReg. I don't find anything that specifically ties this Jane to our Moses. There are several other Jane Marshalls from 1727-1734 who could be the Jane.
Can anyone help with either of these? Any clues would be much appreciated.
I am researching my family history and have spoken several people about a plane crash near Oxford during the war.
The pilots name was Charles Alan Washer and I understand he was born in New Zealand but came over to the uk and was a test pilot. I cannot find he has a commonwealth war grave but may be buried in Berrow churchyard because of a family connection. Can anyone help please
Hi I found an envelope on an allotment in Portishead in the 80's addressed to 5 Q C, Wireless Experimental Station Chew Magna.
It has a red penny stamp and a green 1/2 penny stamp.
I can't seem to find anything about this , does anyone have any ideas please?
I've just seen that you have a guest speaker in 2016 who is going to talk about this subject.
It reminds me of something that my mother told me about recently during a long discussion about the Langford Road area. She mentioned that the Minister at the Methodist Mission in Langford Road was called "Louchy" (a term of affection I think) and that his parents had died on the Titanic. I have since checked the passenger list and found the following individuals in Second Class:
Mr Charles LOUCH (Saddler)
Mrs Alice Adelaide LOUCH.
The description of the recovered body (apologies if this is too macabre for some) reads as follows (Entry 121):
"Male. Estimated age 48. Beard and moustache, black.

Matilda (Carey) Owen died at 61 Alfred Street in 1875. I understand that some houses on Alfred Street were renumbered around 1908, e.g. the former no. 10 is thought to be present-day no. 74. Does anyone know whether no. 61 in 1875 is still no. 61, or something else now?
