Pat, I read with interest your excellent account of your own recent research; how thoroughly hard you must have worked on this. I must read it again before I visit Weston soon.
Just wondering if it would be possible to obtain the grave number in Milton Road Cemetery for Christina Lace? Hoping to get to Weston during this month. Thanks, and all the best, Jasmine.
Does anyone have any pointers I can follow up on that may establish any further details regading the death of George Markey. Probate entry records death at Weston super Mare and William Henry Butt as sole Executor. Death cert records George Markey, Master Mariner, Accidental death at work in Weston-super-Mare on or about 30 January 1890
I've come across a chap in the USA, who is researching his surname SAM(M)S/SAME etc, who he reckons came from Somerset in the 1700s...I've looked at the Surnames of Interest of our members and no-one is researching it. Is there anyone "out there" who is researching it or knows of someone who is...?
Pat, you were wonderful in finding for me the grave of my great grandfather C.R. Evors, and thanks again. Now I have found out that Christina Lace, wife of my 2x great uncle, John Henry Lace, died in 1st quarter 1908 and is buried in Milton Road Cemetery, according to an entry I came across, but I can't now find where I read this to check it out! And maybe John Henry is there too... If you're able to help on this at all I'd be very grateful. I do know that Christina was living in Somerset. Her maiden name was Wilton.
Tomkins moved to Weston super Mare in 1872 or 1873 and became chaplain to the West of England Sanatorium. I am in search of a photograph or portrait of him.
John Jaques was baptised at St James the Great on the 24th April 1734 in Winscombe. He does not appear again on the parish records for this village.
A John Jaques, a widower of St George's, married Sarah House, a spinster, by licence on the 5th October 1782 at Portbury, witnesses Humpy Atherton and Joseph Wedmore.
Does anyone with local knowledge think it likely that these are one and the same John Jaques? If so, do you have any suggestions as to how I might prove it?
