What happened to Mary Parsons?
published by on Wed, 02/05/2018 - 19:54
Can anyone help in solving the mystery of what happened to my Great Great Grandfather's first wife. He was Joseph Drake Parsons born at Kewstoke in 1820 and his first wife was Mary Herman or Hurman born at Burnham on Sea in 1823. They married at Kewstoke on 25 December 1843 and together had four or possibly five children (Ann - 1844; James - 1846; George - 1848; Joseph - 1850). The first two were born at Huntspill whereas the others were born in Weston Super Mare. There was possibly a fifth child, Henry, also born at Weston in 1854, but Mary might not have been his mother. Joseph moved to Taunton and married Mary Ann Vickery in 1858, but I cannot establish what happened to Mary Herman. Can any of your membership help me? On a separate point, their child Joseph was an inmate at Parkhurst Prison on the Isle of Wight in 1871 so must have committed some serious crime. Can anyone point me in the direction of finding the answer to what that was?

Bisdee from Worle and Banwell.
published by on Wed, 02/05/2018 - 18:25
Hi my name is Davina, I am a decedent of James and Harriet Bisdee from Worle. James and his son Edgar were transported to Australia for stealing sheep and chickens) James is Thomas Bisdee of Hutton brother) I have been doing my research since 2011,and I am obsessed and always on the hunt for more information or finding more links to distant family. I have found a lot of information on James and Edgar. I am willing to share and collect more! ( on iPad right now so will put more up later.)
I would love to find some other family researching or information too! Please don't hesitate to contact me.

Davina.

( I am aware of my distant cousin Bisdees in Tasmania, I don't think my Western Australian Bisdees kept in contact, I do know James never sent for his wife, he re-married ( funny story that) only 4 years after being sent here and Harriet married 7 years after, presumably on desertation. )

Richard OGBORN buried 1782 - Help!
published by Pat Hase on Wed, 04/04/2018 - 21:57

On our transcriptions of Nempnett Thrubwell Burials the burial of Richard OGBORN, (my 5 x great grandfather) is noted as on the 24th December 1782.  Even our brilliant Graham Payne has been beaten by the words used in the parish record to describe him so he had put that he was  "a * man".   The image on Ancestry has me stumped as well - Please can someone take a look to see if they can decipher the writing.  The nearest I can get is "a dropsical man"?  but I've no idea what follows that.  All suggestions welcome.  Thank you.
