Wedding 1945

This photo of the wedding was published on our web site in 2012 - so full marks for perseverance! I'm sorry that no one responded or recognised anyone in the group.  The marriage took place at Holy Trinity Church.   You mentioned Peggy's father - There is a death registered in Bristol in 1934 of a Cecil H PEARCE aged 34.  There is a marriage also registered in Bristol of a Cecil H PEARCE and a Florence E SWINDLEHURST or WOODHEAD in the June qrt of 1925 and the birth of a Peggy PEARCE was registered in the Dec qrt 1925 with mother's maiden name of SWINDLEHURST or GOODHEAD [sic].  There was a boy, Bryan H PEARCE born in 1930 to the same parents - also in Bristol, but I think he may have died in 1935.  But of course you may already know this!

Cecil PEARCE had an elder sister called Dorothy who married an Ernest DERRICK in 1936.  On the 1939 Register they are living in Bristol so I am assuming that they are the D & E DERRICK you mentioned in a previous post who witnessed the marriage.

thanks so much. I am still wondering what happened to Peggy and Robert? I have looked into War Bride information to see if maybe she was on one of the ships taking brides to the US. But no luck. The name Miller makes it more difficult. I wonder if you have records there of war brides and could locate her. tThanks again.

I think I've found Peggy on the Queen Mary in 1946!  It's on FMP and her entry is as follows:

SHIP: "QUEEN MARY"  APPROX. SAILING DATE: 30 MAR 1946

MILLER, Peggy P.  20  58126(PP No.)  Br.  22 Hillcrest Knowle, Bristol, Somerset.

Dependent of: S/Sgt. Robert J. Miller, ASN 36130145, US Army.
253 Crest Ave, Ann Arbor, Mich.

Hope this helps you to find out more.

PS. I think these passenger lists must be a recent update on FMP.

That's brilliant Debbie, It clinches what I had supposed because her address is that of her Aunt and Uncle - Dorothy and Ernest DERRICK, who witnessed the marriage.  There is a blacked out entry on their page of the 1939 Register which could be her.   Thank you.
