I have received a query from a non-member who is researching the HARSE family of Weston-super-Mare. She has a family tree from Brian Austin, but would like to make contact with anyone else who is interested in this family. She wants to establish how her family is connected to the John HARSE, 1787-1874, who initiated a carrier service in 1811 between Weston and Bristol and later lived for a while of Steep Holm. Her own family includes a John & Hannah HARSE who were living in Rose Cottage, Carlton Street, Weston-super-Mare in 1851. They were married at St John's Church, Weston, 24th April 1823. Hannah's maiden name appears to be CARP and there was a query about that surname connected with the FRY family earlier.
This picture is of George HARSE, 1819-1861, the Weston Worthy, who was a Donkeychairman and a nephew of the John & Hannah of Carlton Street. |
