DANIEL HOFFMAN - BIRTHPLACE
published by on Wed, 09/08/2017 - 12:21
Hi All,

I would be very grateful for any assistance on this.
My maternal Great Grandfather, Daniel Hoffman was born in Hesse Nassau Germany 1849, married Caroline Emery in Weston-Super-Mare on 4/12/1872, and died in Weston-Super-Mare 11/6/1883. He was a single cornet player in a local band under the leadership of a Herr Pfaff. There was a benefit concert played for his wife Caroline, and a copy of the Poster is in the Weston Museum.

I am trying to determine his exact birthplace in Germany. I am a member of Ancestry.co.uk, and have tried a couple of German genealogy links with no success.

Therefore, can someone assist or point me in the right direction with my quest.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read the above.

Kind regards,

Dave Edmunds

Mary Day

Thank you so much for your response. I am still unsure if this is the right Mary Day. Looks like she would have been 29 at the time she married Charles TRIPP & I wonder if that would have been older than usual? Very much appreciate your sharing this & I have saved it to continue searching.

Family of George and Sarah Coop
published by on Mon, 07/08/2017 - 23:04
Have recently confirmed that George and Sarah Coop are my 4th great grandparents. George (1787-1830) died Chew Magna, Sarah (1786-1834) died Chew Magna. They had children Elizabeth, William, Joseph, John, Charles and Edward between 1817-1827. Elizabeth christened Chew Magna, remaining children Chew Stoke. The children were scattered after the death of their parents.

I'm interested in any info on this family. Charles is my ancestor. Sarah's maiden name may have been Keedwell.

Many thanks,

Michael Barton

Compton Bishop family history
published by on Sun, 06/08/2017 - 21:50
Hello, I am tracing my family history and the names I am searching at the moment are Leader/Lader and Chin.

My 3x Great Grandfather was William Lader/Leader (1804-1842) and was the school master at Badgeworth, he married a Martha Ann Chin (1803-1866)a shopkeeper in Badgeworth, I am looking at the Chin ancestry and I can find Martha's mother as Elizabeth (1763-1843) on the 1841 Census and have found the fathers name as Peter (? - ?) from a Parish marriage document of William and Martha.

William Lader/Leader was from Badgeworth and Martha Ann Chin was from Compton Bishop. I cannot find any information on Peter Chin or what his wife Elizabeth maiden name was.

Any help will be great.

Thanks,
Phill

Looking for any information concerning this couple but particularly looking for parents of Betty TRIPP.
Thanks for any help.
