Judith, I am new to this site so not sure if I am reading this correctly! Are you looking for information on the Chaplin family covering Wick St Lawrence, or do you have information to share? I have taken some recent photographs of graves at Wick St Lawrence on the Chaplin family to assist my cousin who lives in Canada trace his family heritage. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards David.

Have you seen the pictures of graves at Wick St Lawrence and their inscriptions on our web site?  You can find them by going to Information Sources, then Wick St Lawrence and they will be listed with the transcriptions of the registers.  The same applies to many of our  parishes which include pictures of memorials and grave stones.

Hello,

yes Ive been to Wick St Lawrence and took some pictures thank you. My Great Grandfather was John Chaplin, born in WsL, his daughter, Edith Elsie was my Grandmother. I have had my DNA tested by Ancestry and would be interested in any family members.

Thank you both for responding.

From: Mr Edwin G Chaplin,

Hello Judith,

I have a John (born c1857 and also known as Jack, I believe) Chaplin in my family tree, the first son of 5 sons and 3 Daughters born to Henry Chaplin and Sarah (nee Pitts). Henry and Sarah's youngest son, George (c1871) is my Great Grandfather and I would certainly be interested in comparing notes.

From Mr Edwin "Charlie" Chaplin

Hello Wayne,

I have a william Chaplin in my family tree, the 3rd of 5sons and 3 daughters born to Henry and Sarah (nee Pitts) Chaplin. Their youngest Son, George is my Great Grandfather and whilst my sister and husband live in Whorle they "don't get about much" these days so I would certainly be interested is seeing some photographs of Grave Stones in Wick St Lawrence as we live in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, so can't, I'm afraid, just pop over. I would also be interested in comparing notes with regard to our respective trees.

Kind Regards, Charlie

Hello Charlie,

Yes we share a family. John Chaplin married Emily Blackmore. I'd be willing to share trees with you. Brian Chaplin, my Dad's cousin worked on the tree for many years, he's sadly died but I have his records too.

Hi Judith and thanks for your positive reply.

I have a confession to make in that I got carried away with my greats in my last message. Henry and Sarah are my Great Grandparents, George is therefore my Grandfather and Jack my Great Uncle making me his 74 year old Great nephew!!. Incidently, I got as far as discovering him marrying Emily Blackmore 26/4/1886 but so far no further.

May I suggest we now continue on a one to one basis? If you are in agreement my email address is charbara4445@virginmedia.com and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Charlie

To David Hockey

David, I am also a distant cousin of your Canadian cousin, Wayne.

Do you by any chance have photographs of any DYER family members in Wick St. Lawrence?

Derrick, I have a photo of the church at Wick St Lawrence, however I was unable to find any "Dyer" graves there. I found graves for Chidsey/Chidzey and Chaplin family line. If these are of interest to you let me know I can post these electronicaly to you. My Dyer connection is through my mothers side of the family, Gertrude Staples who married Kenneth Hockey. My grandmother was Marion Hilda Dyer who married Percy Staples (full name Sidney Henry Percy Staples). Marion's parents being Harry Dyer and Mary Ann Dyer (nee Chidsey). I have a list from Wayne of graves, locations and churchyards to visit. I have found and photographed a number of headstones for him, again happy to share with you. I did find a Dyer grave at Yatton church for Alfred Mark Dyer and his son Kenneth John Dyer. Are you local to Weston as I see some of the family line extends to Wales.

David Hockey

David, Your Harry Dyer's father William had a younger brother Robert, who was my gt. grandfather.

Thank you, but Chidsey and Chaplin don't relate to me. Any Dyer related graves/photos would of interest to me, please, though I don't recognise the Yatton names.

I am in Andover, Hampshire, and visit Weston only occasionally.

Many thanks,

Derrick

Graham,

I have been looking for this grave, is there a headstone? I have found other family graves in the TU section but not this one. I have been looking for reference points in the TC section as well do you have any experience here that may help me?

David.
