Joseph Moore, a mason, married Harriet Main 25/12/1861 at Weston-super-Mare Christchurch. Joseph was born in Weston ca 1834 (census record only).

Harriet was the daughter of John Main, another mason, and his wife Jane, christened 14/11/1841. In the 1861 census they lived in 'Main square'. Both Jane and Harriet are laundresses.

In 1871 James and Harriet were living in Clifton, Bristol. There do not appear to have been any children. James died in 1881 2nd qtr in Barton Regis Reg'n District (= Clifton). Harriet re-married my ancestor, James Rothwell Hosey 1892 3rd qtr in Barton Regis - a civil ceremony. She continued to be a laundress.

James was a mason working in the Richmond quarries at the top of Whiteladies Road, Bristol. His first wife (i.e. also my ancestor) had died in 1890. By 1901 James and Harriet were living in Lansdowne Road, Bristol. James had become a verger at St Stephen's there.

James died 22/5/1915 and Harriet died 8/10/1928, both recorded as Bristol, which by then had taken in Barton Regis.

I am a little confused by your entry. According to our transcriptions a Joseph James MOORE did marry a Harriet MAIN in Christ Church in 1861 stating that his father was a James MOORE.  You say that Joseph was born in Weston according to a census.   You also say that   "In 1871 James and Harriet were living in Clifton"  I'm assuming that here you mean Joseph MOORE  not James MOORE.  However, looking at the 1871 census in Bristol this Joseph MOORE was born in Trowbridge not Weston although Harriet was born in Weston.

In 1861 a Joseph MOORE, a stone mason, born in Trowbridge was in Weston living in Alma Street visiting a Richard WEAVER who was sharing a house with Henry HASE (my husband's g grandfather).

Can you confirm that this is your family?
