Hello,

I am after any information that can be found on Ann Petheram who I believe was born around 1730 (don't know where she was born).

What I do know is that she married an ancestor of mine by the name of Jasper Hancock. They were married on 10 August 1750 in Hutton. T

Jasper died February 1810 and supposedly buried in St. Christoper's Churchyard and Ann supposedly is buried beside him in St. Christopher's Churchyard, Lympsham.

I am after parents, siblings and where she died and is she buried beside her husband Jasper Hancock.

Allan

I have not changed my mind I still believe that Cornelius is John's father. As to where Jasper and Ann are buried I have news for you, they are not in St. Christopher's Churchyard, so I will say I am wrong on the burial as well as a lot of other researches, including yourself, but I am not wrong on the parents of John

So, who is the Jasper HANCOCK buried at Lympsham in 1810 included in our transcriptions?

Hello again Pat,

Thank you again for replying to my query.

This is what I have done, a family member informed me that Jasper and his wife are not buried in St. Christopher's Churchyard, Lympsham, so I sent a email to Rev. Simon Lewis asking for any information on the burial of Jasper and Ann and a couple of days later I received a reply from Gwen Hatton and she informed me that they are not buried in their Churchyard. So I am at a complete brick wall if they are not buried in Lympsham where are they buried and also why would all the Genealogy sites that I have looked at, all say the same that they are buried in St.Christopher's Churchyard.

What I can tell you about my ancestor is that he lived in Brean and his wishes where to be buried in St. Christopers Churchyard, and this information is told down through the family. As to the death of Ann I have no idea when she died, as I said she is supposedly buried in the next grave beside him at St. Christopher's Churchyard.

So what do I do, do I take what is said on all Genealogy Sites that they are buried in St. Christopher's Churchyard as being correct or do I take the word
from St. Christopher's Church person that they are not.

Hope you can work this problem out for me.

According to FamilySearch an Anne (or Anna) PETHERAM was christened in South Brent on 1 March 1736/7. Parents were John and Sarah.

Thank you Dave for this information, now the $100-00 question is, is
this the same Ann that married my Jasper Hancock in Hutton.

Thanks again.

Out of interest I have just put the surname "PETHERAM" in the FreeReg search box with a search period of 1650-1750 and the County of Somerset. I haven't put in a first name. That resulted in over 100 "hits". If you tick the soundex box you get even more. Parishes covered by the "hits" include Wedmore, Mark, Burnham-on-sea, East Brent & Brent Knoll.

Thank you Dave,

I did the same yesterday but I put Ann's name in also and from memory there were a few born / baptised 1700 to 1750, so I am no closer to finding her birth or baptism. I'm also no closer to finding where she is buried with her husband Jasper.

Thank again

This probably does not help in your search but when my mother died at Yatton I found that the vicar could not help as regards the location of her parents grave. However the local undertakers had records and a plan of the whole churchyard and could tell me where her parents and her grandparents were buried. Perhaps local undertakers at Bleadon may be able to help.
