My great grandfather Walter Lukins was born in Clevedon, and lived in Kenn with his grandparents and aunts and uncles. His grandfather William Lukins although living in Kenn, was born in Yatton. Walter Lukins walked to Barnsley in Yorkshire in the 1880s to seek work, and settled in Darfield where he married my great grandmother. He was a coal miner. I would love to hear from anyone who has any info about the Lukins family in Kenn and Yatton. Many thanks

What a marvellous story to have handed down!

You didn't give a birth date but I assume Walter was the son of Ann LUKINS and was christened at St Andrew's Church Clevedon on the 20th July 1856. Do you know what happened to Ann? You mentioned that he was born in Yatton but on the 1861 census when he is with his grandparents in Kenn his birth place is given as Clevedon. Do you have some other evidence?
