Palmer

Hi Michael,  We are descended from Mary Anne (Polly) Palmer born 1825 East Brent.  Polly married George Gould Payne but before they married Polly had two children Louisa & Robert both born in the Axbridge Workhouse. 

She kept both children with her and we think they were George's children but because of poverty they could not marry.  Anyway Polly & George lived in both Compton Bishop and Winscombe where further children were born.

So I am interested in Polly Palmer, Louisa and Robert not to mention their forebears and the Payne family.

I have found a marriage of a Charles PAYNE to a Mary Ann PALMER in Winscombe 20th Dec 1845 and there are children christened in Winscombe with parents Charles & Mary Ann PAYNE but I can't find a marriage at the moment of a George Gould PAYNE with a Mary Anne or Polly PALMER.  When and when did George Gould PAYNE marry?

You may also be able to help me as I have transcribed the Birth and Baptismal records for Axbridge Union Workhouse from 1838 and I can't seem to find the births of Louisa or Robert in my Workhouse records. I'm assuming that their surname would have been PALMER.  Errors did occur in the original records and I would be grateful if you could send details their births so that I can add that information to my database.
