St. Jude's Church
published by Derrick Norton on Wed, 14/08/2019 - 20:06

Dear Pat,

My Canadian 3rd cousin, advised locally cousin by David Hockey, tells me that George Dyer 1826-1905 built St. Jude's Church (now a Greek Orthodox?).

My research shows he was a tailor in all censuses 1851-1901.

I wonder if his younger brother William Dyer 1838- 1919 was the builder, who was responsible for much house building as a land agent, Town Commissioner, and his obituary is in Weston Library. You helped me with him previously.

How would I find any records for St. Jude's Church, please?

I think you will find that the George DYER who built St Judes was William's son and he was born in about 1862 in Kewstoke. He died in 1934.  I found it quite difficult to find any documentation about the building of the Church.
