Meadows Family
published by Brian & Pam Airey on Thu, 15/03/2018 - 13:59

Hi - I am contacting you from Australia where I am undertaking a family history search. My paternal family, (Meadows) was very active in the horticultural field and entered the annual competition held in the Winter Gardens. They also owned a nursery in Hutton in the mid 60's. I would be very grateful if anyone knows any information about my family, George (Grandfather), Betty (Elizabeth, grandmother) and James (father). They attended various mayoral events and won Weston's best flower garden in 1955. Or if you can refer me to any other websites that might give me any information I would be happy to do some more resarch. Kind regards Julie Brennan. julie@robertbrennan.com.au

Hi Julie. It is not clear if you are researching the ancestry of your MEADOWS family or their more recent horticultural exploits. If the former, then it would be helpful if you could put some dates (of birth, marriage, death - approximate if necessary) to your father and grandfather, please. If the latter then it might be worth contacting http://www.wsmhorticultural.org.uk who were offering the George Meadows Cup as one of their trophies in 2015 (and probably later).

In the 1964 Street Directory for Weston-super-Mare is an advertisement for MEADOWS of Weston Ltd., Landscape Gardeners and Nurserymen, The Garden Centre, 43a Locking Road, Weston-super-Mare.  Is this the same family?
