Yatton transcripts - BATT or BALL? (seriously!)
published by daveerasmus on Sat, 24/02/2018 - 20:04

One of my 6xgreat grandfathers was Harry BATT. He was the father of James BATT who was christened at Yatton on 27 July 1740. The mother was Mary.

There is a transcript of a marriage of Harry BALL and Mary JONES on this site in Yatton on 6 June 1738, but I think this might be an error. I have had a look at an image of the Parish Register on Ancestry and I'm pretty sure that the surname is BATT, not BALL. Could this be checked, please?

Yes David you are correct Harry's surname should read BATT and not BALL as we have transcribed.

This entry has now been corrected.

Thanks, Graham. That's great. As a consequence I have managed to push that particular line back another 4 generations.
