Dear All,

I am trying to find any details about my grandparents, George Bryant who died in Weston Super Mare district in 1945 and his wife Gladys Bryant (nee Hopper) who died in 1985 in Nailsea (Gladys 1904-1985). Gladys is buried in teh church yard in nailsea however her grave stone only gives her name. Any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks, Julie

many thanks,

Kate is correct with the address of East End Terrace which I think you will find is in Nailsea - The 1939 Register is rather misleading with just Long Ashton Rural District being given.

It is likely that George died in Nailsea as well.  In 1945 Nailsea was in the Registration District of Weston-super-Mare.  In which churchyard was his wife buried - Holy Trinity or Christ Church?  Possibly he is in the same one.

Do you have access to Ancestry, Julie? There is a tree on there which purports to trace the HOOPER line back to William HOOPER born c1668 in Dunster. I haven't verified the contents of the tree but if you want further details, let me know.

Julie:

I'm happy for you to contact me via Ancestry but there is rather too much information on the tree for me to share. I think you need to look at the tree yourself. It's called the O'Rourke-Ludlow Family Tree. If you have difficulty in finding it, let me know.

By the way, George H. BRYANT married Gladys M. HOOPER at Long Ashton in 1928 (Q3 Vol5c p1365). If you obtain the marriage certificate it should contain more useful information including (with luck) the name of George's father.
