John PALMER 1807-1878
published by Pat Hase on Sun, 18/06/2017 - 11:29

We had a query in the library yesterday from someone who has recently moved into Palmer Street in Weston wanting to know more about John PALMER after whom Palmer Street is said to be named.  He was christened in Worle in 1807 s/o William & Mary and can be traced through the censuses living in Weston as a Builder until his death in 1878 when he was buried in Weston Cemetery.  He was a member of the Burial Board set up to oversee the planning of the Cemetery in the 1850s and was responsible for the building of the Cemetery Chapels and the top lodge, as well as other buildings in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area.

His parents were William PALMER and Mary PAIN who were married in Banwell in 1805 - Has anyone researched this family further?
