Just finished reading Brian Hancock's account of this event. Weston airport was also home to a Shallow Factory where the Beauforts were made, which gives a much more likely reason for this bomb, but I suspect the pilot had not been able to complete his original task and jettison his load in order to get home as quickly and safely as was possible.
My mother worked at the Shallow factory and in 1943 when the bombing was at its peak at Weston, I remember that a plane did exactly that after its run over Bristol and the bombs were jettisoned, falling into the sand at the end of the swimming baths, just outside the wall.
It was probably a typo error but I don't think you intended to write "Shallow" Factory - They were called Shadow Factories and there is an interesting article about the Banwell factory on this site concerning the History of Banwell. It also includes a mention about the Oldmixon factory
