Information extracted from the England & Wales Probate Calendar indicates that, at the time of his death, he lived at Grosvenor Nursing Home, Victoria Road, Clevedon. The Grant of Probate was extracted by Westminster Bank.

His death was registered in Weston-super-Mare in June 1965 (Volume 7c Page 298). You can obtain a copy of his death certificate from the GRO.

At the time of the 1911 census he was living in Upper Norwood, London with his wife Ada and 2 sisters Helena and Petronella. Petronella died on 11 July 1942 (also registered in W-s-M). She lived in Burnham-on-sea at the time of her death and Elliott took out the grant of Probate to her estate.

Thank you so much for this information. Do you happen to have anything else on him? Do you know if he was buried? and where?

Sorry, no I couldn't find a burial. Why not contact the Nursing home where he was living at the time of his death (if it still exists!). They might have information which they are prepared to divulvge.

Try NatWest who extracted the grant of Probate and were therefore Executors of the Will. They would have been responsible for settling the funeral expenses bill. If they have retained their records they might be able to help.

Following on from what David has found - as the date of death is given in the Probate as 8th May 1965 - it might be that there was an announcement in a local paper.  If you email the North Somerset Studies Library they may be able to help you if you quote the date.

I noticed that information about the death of his sister Petronella was published in the Western Daily Press (included in the British Newspaper Archive) on the 14th July 1942 but the archive only goes to 1950.  However, I believe there are copies of the Western Daily Press which can be seen in Bristol Reference Library on film - can anyone confirm this please?

It might be that information about what he intended for his funeral was included in his will - or might he have been buried with his wife Ada, who died in 1937 but I don't know where she was buried either!
