published by on Sun, 19/05/2013 - 10:03
I'm researching my grandmother's family,I think they lived at bottom of providence lane,I have a picture which shows her with sibblings David,Grace,Lillian and Dennis outside Rosery cottage in the 1930s.
Their parents were Fredrick Jones 1890-1931 and Elsie Evans 1892-1989
Vera Kathleen Jones(granma) went on too marry. George Amesbury 1912-1991 also from long Ashton
Any info to help build family tree were be amazing.

As I have a great grandfather called David JONES (no relation to you) I know that anyone researching JONES needs all the help they can get !

Am I correct in thinking that the marriage of Frederick JONES and Elsie Maude EVANS was registered in the Thornbury Registration district (see FreeBMD) during the June Quarter of 1909?  If so, I think they can be found living at Almondsbury on the 1911 census with a young son,

As the children you mentioned were born between 1921 and 1931 there is rather a gap before they were born – do you know of other older children?

If this is the same family then Frederick JONES was born in about 1889 in Pilning and appears on the 1891 census with his parents Matthew and Harriet JONES living at Marsh Common Almondsbury.  This differs from several Family Trees which appear on the Ancestry site which give him completely different parents so I’d be interested in what you have found out about the family.  If you have Frederick and Elsie’s marriage certificate - that should give the fathers’ names.
