As far as I understand it - Weston did not have a Mayor until 1937 - the first Mayor of Weston-super-Mare was Henry BUTT.
Perhaps you are thinking of Town Commissioners. Weston gained town status in 1842 with Town Commissioners elected.
The first Chairman of the Commissioners was Francis Hutchinson SYNGE. It's possible that someone has a list of the Commissioners which would help you - are you looking for any name in particular?

The only reason I was asking was that I'd come across a dubious reference to Charles Barnes Wilkins being Mayor of Weston in the mid 1800's. I know a lot about him as I've researched him for a number years, he had lived in Weston and was a JP for Somerset but I'd never heard of him being Mayor of Weston so just wanted to check the veracity of the reference, which as I'd suspected was wrong.
Hi, did anyone ever find a list of Mayors, as I would also be interested in this. I am particularly interested to know what is happening in this picture which was taken between 1948 and 1962 (NFS Nation Fire Service). It looks like a lady mayor presenting an award. These are firemen. NFS17 is "Bristol " area. My gramps is in the pic so we know it is Weston.

I do apologise- the date range I suggested for the picture of the lady mayoress was completely wrong. It should have been between 1941 and 1948. After '48 the NFS (National Fire Service) reverted to local units. So could I ask to check the list of mayors again for a lady mayor between 1941 and 1948 ?

The list have does not show a Lady Mayor in any of those years. However, every male Mayor would have had a Lady Mayoress so perhaps that is what you mean? I don't have the name of their Mayoresses and of course they may not have the same name as the Mayor.
