published by on Sat, 15/09/2012 - 17:09

Hi , i have hit a brick wall with both names in my family tree i have been looking for months for the births of William Gage born around 1779 and noted in the 1851 census as born in Kingston Seymour and Isaac Sayer born around 1773 but cannot actually find baptisms or parents of these two.Does anyone have any ideas please. Isaac lived in worle and William in Congresbury. i have the deaths for both, but no sign of baptisms.

Many Thanks

in advance

Sandra

If you use FreeREG you will find a baptism of a William GAGE s/o John & Mary GAGE christened at Yatton 14th Jan 1779 and said to be of Kingston Seymour.  If you haven't already done so - do try FreeREG - it can be a very useful site for locating missing people.

With Isaac SAYER I would try variants of the surname perhaps THAYER but perhaps some else has found him

Thanks Pat , I found The Gage baptism and his parents marriage but then Jahn gage is obviously a popular name and cant find a baptism for him apart from Farmborough not sure if that is the same area. As for Sayer , ive tried sayer, sawyer, Thayer and Theyer and theres nothing makes me wonder if he just picked that name to use haha .

There is a tree on Ancestry which has William Gage born 1778 Kingston Seymore son of John Gage and Mary Pool - siblings John, Richard, Phoebe, James and Mary - death 1853.

Hope this helps!

William Gage's death is given as 1853 aged 75 - does this fit in with the information you have?

Hi, not sure if you have this?

1804 25 Mar Isaac SAYER batcl St John's  WSM

Hannah HARDEN spinster St John's WSM

there are children baptised for Isaac and Ann (Hannah) in this parish, so Isaac could have been born in WSM and they are also in WSM on the 1841 census

Hi Sandra

James Gage b. 1788 is my 3 x Gt Grd Father and only yesterday I was reseaching his brother William (b. 1778) and his descendants. I discovered that William's son, John married Betsey Sawyer (poss Sayer) on 24 December 1827. Are you descended from John & Betsey?

I have discovered that William married Mary but I do not know her surname or where they got married. Do you have this information?

Regards

Richard
