Charles BROWN baptised at Congresbury 1816 (my GG grandfather) was the son of George and Sarah BROWN, his first wife, Sarah died 5 months after Charles was born. George married again in 1824 to Margaret URCH and possibly married for a third time after Maragret died in 1826, both wives are buried at Yatton and were both from Hewish. According to Charles Brown's 1816 baptism transcription and 1842 marriage certificate in Brynmawr, Wales, Charles states his father as George Brown, occupation carpenter. George I suspect was born in Banwell 1774 to James BROWN, sexton of Banwell.
In 1853, a George BROWN, 80 years, died in Axbridge Workhouse, and was buried at Puxton, whom I suspect is the George Brown of Banwell. Does anyone have any information on George Browns admission to Axbridge workhouse prior to 1851 or any other information. In 1851, there is a George Brown is listed on the Axbridge Workhouse Census as being 68 yrs and a Master Carpenter of Banwell. The tale of how I have found my way back from Wales to Weston in really long winded and taken 16 years to unravel. I am really grateful if anyone could help me please.
I would like some help to find information about my ggg grandmother Mary Ann Watts (nee Banwell) born about 1806 at Kewstoke and died 17 November 1873. She married Emanuel (or Emannuel) Watts but I have no marriage date. Her death certificate gives her parents as John Banwell and Mary Ann Coles. Any more details you can help with would be greatly appreciated.
Hia, I'm wondering if anyone can help. John Marshman married Betsey Beakes in 1834 Kewstoke, I am looking for her parents please. The census tells me she was born in Banwell around 1805. Also I have the parents for John as Thomas and Sarah Marshman but cannot find anymore than that. So I'm looking for a marriage for them. He was born in Kewstoke so it's possible that is where they married. Thank you for reading.
The 1951 Barrow Gurney census (P13) shows Jame Vowles, age 50, a haulier, born in Barrow Gurney and his wife Elizabeth, age 44, born in Winford.
I am trying to find their marriage and birth dates. There is an Elizabeth Cook(e) baptised on 29/03/1803 but that would have made her 48 on the 1951 census.
If anyone can find definative dates I would be very grateful. I have researched the CD database witout success.
