Henry HASE or HARSE or HEIS or HEASE or HEARSE or HAST etc.

Henry HASE or HEASE married Selina HARES in Shipham June 21st 1846 and they had a son whose birth was given as at Cheddar on his birth registration as Henry HARSE s/o Henry & Selina formerly HARES as 26th Oct 1846. This Henry was with his parents Henry & Selina (also known as Hester!) HEASE in Yatton in 1851. In May 1852 a 5 year old Henry HEIS was buried in Emanuel Churchyard in Weston. I cannot find a death registration for this Henry.

Selina died in 1856 and Henry HAST [sic] married again to Mary Ann NICHOLLS.

In 1861 Henry and Mary Ann can be found in Alma Street, Weston-super-Mare with an 8-year-od son called Henry born in Weston-super-Mare, presumably a son of Henry & Selina I can find neither birth registration nor baptism for this Henry. HELP!!!

Seemed strange that could find all of the other baptisms : Henry - Cheddar (1846), Emily Jane - Yatton (1848), Alfred - Axbridge (1854), John - Axbridge (1856) plus all of the children of Sarah Nicholls but not that of Henry.

But...Registered in Emanuel Church Nov 1852

Cannot find any "Easts" in Weston in 1851 - so this could well be him!

Struggling with the Civil record - though there is a Henry HARRIS 1852 Q4 - mother HARDEN that might come up trumps.

Wow, that's great. It must be him, especially as the other Henry was buried at Emmanuel and everything else fits including father's occupation. As always, thank you very much. Just shows how a second brain on the job is such a help! I'm really pleased with this!

I too considered Henry HARRIS which could be mistaken for HASE but there is also a Henry HAYNES registered 2/1852 Axbridge but the references are illegible so there is no matching record on GRO Online Indexes that will give the mother's maiden name.

HAYNES and HASE are pretty close phonetically, I think.

I know it is a year after the baptism but there are two interesting entries for Dec. 1853.

Henry James HARSE mmn BOOTH and Henry Charles HARES mmn STOCK. Is t his a bit of a coincidence or am I just clutching at names to try to help.

Thank you for your suggestions. The maiden name for the mother of Henry HARRIS born in 1852 is given on the GRO Index as HARDEN and a Henry HARRIS married a Jane HARDEN in 1848 so that seems to discount him from being Henry HASE.
Henry James HARSE was the s/o Henry HARSE and Isabella BOOTH.
Coincidentally Isabella's sister, Elizabeth BOOTH married a John KING and their daughter, Emma KING married Alfred HASE who was a brother of the missing Henry HASE!
Not sure about Henry Charles HARES but Henry HASE's mother was Selina HARES and her mother was Sophia STOCK - but that is another generation.
It's such a pity that the references for Henry HAYNES are obliterated. But looking at it again I think it's registered in Uxbridge not Axbridge.
