Ann Radford married Joseph Parker in 1848 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. On the marriage record it states " daughter of the late John Radford of Somerset ". Ann Radford had a daughter Sarah Ann Radford baptized in Wedmore 14 March 1844 when Ann was working for Jeremiah Gibbs. Searching for the parents of Ann Radford.

On the 1841 Census of Wedmore there is a John RADFORD whose age is given as 55 with three younger RADFORDs.  Looking at the parish records for Wedmore there are children baptised there between 1813 and 1833 whose parents are John & Jane RADFORD but they do not include an Ann.  Of course she could have been baptised with one name but known by another. Perhaps you need to look at each of the girls and see if you can eliminate them from the equation.

On the 1841 census your Ann RADFORD's age is given as 20 which, allowing for the approximation of ages to the nearest 5 years downwards in that census means that she could have been 24 in 1841 - do you have a later age check for her?

Ann & Sarah Ann Radford in a family group of William Wells (Wedmore) which were listed as follows: Mr Wells 55, Eliza Radford 16?, Jane Wells 50, Ann Radford 24?, Caroline Radford 22?, Sarah Ann Radford 4, Wm Wells 18, Edwin Wells 7. Many ages are written thru. Family Bible date lists Ann Radford Parker birth date 12 Sep 1822. I have baptism for Eliza Radford 22May 1825 Wedmore parents John & Jane Radford & Caroline born 1823--perhaps the Caroline Radford on the ship? Looks like right family?

We had some spare time while at Portishead library this afternoon, so while waiting for people to come in we took another look at your query.  You said that Ann was the daughter of John RADFORD who was deceased when she married in 1848. We were thinking that he might be the John of the John & Jane RADFORD who had children in Wedmore.  I couldn't find a burial for him and later found John RADFORD alive and well in 1851 and 1861 living with his married daughter Betsy ROSSITER in Meare.  The death of a John RODFORD [sic] aged 82 was registered in the Axbridge District in 1863.

As you know there was an Ann RADFORD christened in Wedmore in Sept 1821 the d/o a Robert & Jane RADFORD.  Robert RADFORD died in 1824 - Could it be that she got her father's name wrong when she was married and that she was the daughter of Robert not John?
