Where Wilfred Marriage & Emily Brown lived

Can anyone supply the exact dates the above lived at the following:

* Brantholme, Grove Park Road,Weston-Super Mare (believe they would have moved in after Feb 1897 & before 1901)

* 8 Trewartha Park, Weston-Super-Mare (believe they may have lived here and moved in before Jan 1911)

* 15 Trewartha Park, Weston-Super-Mare (believe they would have moved in before 1917)

* Hillcrest, 31 Trewartha Park, Weston-Super-Mare (believe they would have moved in before Apr 1923)

Does anyone know the street number of Brantholme, Grove Park Road, Weston-Super-Mare?

Taking your last question first. Looking at the house names given on the 1901census and comparing them with the house names of Grove Park Road in a later street directory it would appear that Brantholme was at No 8 and was renamed Endellion.

I have a copy of the 1917 Street Directory and the BROWN family were not at 8, Trwartha Park nor 31 Trewartha Park when that was compiled (probably in 1916). However, Wilfred M BROWN was at No 15 Trewartha Park.

Glad to be of help - As Brown Bros Cafe in the High Street features in the lives of so many older Westonians I'm sure we can help further when we are in the Library on Saturday - the Street directories may be able to clarify the situation. Local newspapers (on film in the Library) which are not yet online may also be of help if (as I suspect) this is the same family.

Wilfred Marriage Brown is the father of my grand mother and is the son of Edgar Marriage Brown who were the owners of Brown Brothers cafÃ©. Thanks for your offer of help it is appreciated.

David Tyler looked through the Street Directories for you today and found that this family appears at 15 Trewartha Park from 1910 until 1919 and then appears in 31 Trewartha Park from 1920 until 1949. There were not any earlier ones available.

He also looked at the Electoral Rolls and in 1937 the following were living at 31 Trewartha Park and eligible to vote - Wilfred & Emily BROWN, Katherine DIXON and Elizabeth MILVERTON. On the 1939 Register at the same address there are Wilfred and Emily BROWN, Ada DARTNELL (described as a working Housekeeper) and Barbara DARTNELL who was probably her daughter.

Wilfred and Emily BROWN were both buried in Weston Cemetery - Plot C98 - Wilfred on 22nd Nov 1950 and Emily, who died in 1954.
