Brain and Veal Families

I'm interested in any information regarding the Brain and Veal families who once lived in WSM. In 1871 they were living in Orchard Street. Albert Brain had an umbrella shop in Orchard Street and his wife Emma (nee Veal) was a dressmaker. William Veal lived at 4 Meadow Street in 1871 and was a Brass Finisher. The Veal family also lived in Palmer Street at one time.

It doesn't look as if your BRAIN family lived in Weston for very long but they did have another child while living here apart form the ones metioned on the censuses. Albert Edward BRAIN was born in about June 1872 but died just 3 months later and was buried in Weston Cemetery (Milton Rd Cemetery) in a grave in the unconsecrated part which makes me think that the family were non-conformist. I can't immediately find any C of E christenings for their other children in our Weston transcriptions. Neither could I find any baptism at the Victoria Methodist Chapel in Weston - their register is on Familysearch at Batch number C17024-1

I see from a newspaper account in the Western Daily Press of 13th Aug 1869 that when the Wotton under Edge Original Band of Hope and Temperance Society held their fete the Band and Choir were under the control of Albert BRAIN and whose son, William, aged 3 years 9 months, played the drums! William was of course born in Weston.
