Harding in Nailsea
published by on Wed, 28/05/2014 - 16:32

My 3xgreat grandfather was, I believe, Thomas Harding born abt 1797.  I know that he married Jane Pool at Holy Trinity in Nailsea 9 Apr 1821.  Despite searching Nailsea records for some years now, I have not been able to find a birth and I am at a loss to know where to look.  As far as I can tell Thomas and Jane had 5 children, Martha, Mary, Jacob, Mary and Benjamin, all born in Nailsea between 1822 and 1830.  I also believe that Thomas was the brother of Jacob Harding, born about 1800 in Nailsea, Charles Harding who married Mary Thorne in 1819 may also have been another brother.

Any suggestions gratefully received

Hi Lynn. Have a look at the Wraxall baptisms on this site (and on FreeReg). I think you will find Jacob, Thomas and James (can't see Charles) there. Parents are Thomas and Sarah I think.

Thanks you again, I searched baptisms in Tickenham and found Charles - again transcribed as Harden.  Parents Thomas and Sarah.  All I need now is to find a marriage for Thomas and Sarah!

I have just checked against the Tickenham fiche and the entry for Charles is spelt HARDIN. Transcript has now been corrected.

My error, taking in too much information to quickly.  I must say I am so pleased that I found this site, absolutely brilliant.  Thank you.
