BURGE BURDGE BIRDGE BIRCH BURGES name variations

Im researching the BURGE family of Claverham/Yatton/Somerset. Our Burge line (Henry) came to Victoria Australia in 1857. His father (Benjamin) was buried at St Marys on the 4th of Aug 1822, his mother (Jane) also many years later. It seems that our Burge ancestors were farm labourers and tannery yard workers. If anyone else is researching or related to this family I'd love to hear from you. Im having trouble finding out where Benjamin came from and who his parents were. Regards Jasmin Burge

Hi Jasmin

I'm not sure if this helps you but there is an Australian connection in my family. William KEEL, the youngest brother of my 3x great-grandmother, Catherine KEEL married a Susan CRABB and emigrated with his family to Melbourne. William KEEL was born in Cleeve, Yatton (Somerset), bap. 19.9.1819. Their daughter, Emma Creyghton KEEL, married an Albert BURGESS son of George BURGESS of Cleeve, Yatton (see above link) in Melbourne.

Regards

Catherine
