Maria Agnes Mitchell

Hi I have been trying to find the birth registration record for my Great Grandmother Maria Agnes Mitchell she was born in Weston Super Mare in 1863, so I can apply for her birth certificate, the only record I can find with the name is a entry dated 1865 2 years after her birth would they leave it that long to register a birth in those days, any help would be great thanks

Maria Agnes Mitchell was baptised 17 Jul 1867 at Christ Church WsM with her siblings William Thomas, Mary Ann and Tom. Parents William & Susanna. Father's occupation mariner. No age was was recorded against the baptisms but the 1871 census suggests that Maria was born in 1865 which corrisponds with BMD entry for Maria Mitchell March Quarter 1865 Axbridge District, Voume 5c Page 686. Her younger sister Mary Ann was born in 1863.

Thank you for the information, I will apply for her birth certificate with BMD reference given, she is also buried at the same church Christ Church WsM, my confussion has come about due to her death certificate stating she was 44yrs old in 1907, I appreciate your help

Just to clarify a point - No burials actually took place at Christ Church in Weston-super-Mare. As I think you already know she was buried in the Milton Road Cemetery (not far from Christ Church) but a funeral Service might well have been held in the Church rather than the Cemetery Chapel.
