I have got a will for my 4 x great grandfather Issac Sayer. In this will hes has left something to Betsy Chinn ,but it doesnt say who she was None of his daughters married that surname. So i have no idea. This will was for 1850 so i pressume she would be on the 1841 or 51 census.

Dies anyone have that area census to find her please it could be Milton area.

Hello Sandra

Do you have any more information such as an address for Issac Sayer or how old he was when he died in 1850?  I've had a quick look in the census returns for 1841 & 1851 but can't find anything yet that might help you.

Regards

Hi Lesley,

Issac died  11 Feb 1850 it looks like Ashcombe Cottage, Milton.he was 68 on the 1841 census. No mention on there that i can see of a Betsy Chinn.

Hello Sandra,

I have a link with Isaac Sayer through his daughter Ann who married into my Haberfield/Haverfield family.  In 1841 Elizabeth Haberfield aged 15 is living with Isaac and his wife Ann (nee Harden). I think she may be their granddaughter who was baptised as Betsy in 1826.  I did wonder if Betsy/Elizabeth married a Chinn but I have so far not been able to find her after 1841.

In 1841 there is a Betsy Chinn aged 75 in Badgworth, Somerset.   There are 3 in Cornwall and a Betty Chinn aged 15 in Bedminster.  Could Betsy be Isaac's sister?

If I can help with further details of the Haberfield line please let me know.

Isaac is a Sayer ,her grandfather but thats another family im finding hard to get info on.Looks like Ann Haberfirld remarried in  Cardiff and became Williams. Hello Debbie, I have found Elizabeth Chinn in Cardiff  her mum Ann Haberfield was also there then re married a Williams and Betsy Chinn re married to Cook. I wouldnt have thought the Betsy was isaacs sister as he was Sayer. I have found Haberfield children living in Cardiff. Not sure if they stayed there though .

Hello Sandra

I also wondered whether Elizabeth Habberfield was a granddaughter & had subsequently married a Chinn.

I found a marriage between George Habberfield & Ann Sayer in Weston on 22 Sept 1825.

I also found the marriage between Isaac Sayer & Hannah Harden on 26 March 1806.

Hope this is of some help to you.

George Habberfield who married Ann Sayer died in Milton in 1836.  He was born in Badgworth in 1802 and his father was John Haverfield, my 4 x great grandfather.  John died in Badgworth in 1855.  I wonder if the 75 year old Betsy Chinn in Badgworth in 1841 is any relation?

I have found Betsy in 1871 still in Cardiff and married to James Cook.  Marriage in Cardiff in 1868 of Elizabeth Chinn to James Cook.

Also found her in 1851 as Elizabeth Chinn married to George.  Place of birth is given as Weston, Somerset but has been transcribed by Ancestry as Neston.
