Victoria Inn, Vale Cottage & Albion Cottage in 1841

This is in reply to Debbie but because I want to include an image I am starting a new item First Railway in Weston-super-Mare 1841

This is a drawing of the first Railway Station in Weston in 1841 and if you look in the bottom right hand corner you can read "From my window at Mrs Henry Taylor's Weston".

"Just wondering if anyone can tell me where the above dwellings would have been in 1841 Weston-super-Mare? I am related to both the Lococks at Victoria Inn and the Taylor family and Ann Knight living in the cottages. Ellen Taylor then aged 12 and living in Albion Cottage went on to marry the nephew of Mary Locock and they were my 3x great grandparents."

The drawing and the entry in the 1841 census showing Ellen's parents apparently as Henry & Sarah TAYLOR seem to indicate that Albion Cottage was near to the Victoria Inn. The Victoria Commercial Hotel was in Regent Street situated next to Laura Buildings roughly opposite where the Floral Clock is today. The Floral Clock is on the site of the first railway station in Weston. The two cottages were therefore situated to the east of the Hotel.

That would make sense for the location of Victoria Inn and I was assuming the cottages were nearby but I realise that the census enumerators didn't necessarily work a direct route.

Ellen's parents were Maurice & Rachel (nee Corfield)Taylor. In 1841 they were in Albion House on the next page of the census. Seems a strange set up but Henry and Sarah in Albion Cottage are from what I know Ellen's eldest siblings. Mary Taylor (Lodging House Keeper) in the other cottage is most likely Maurice's mother. Her maiden name was Knight and Ann Knight is probably her sister. Frances Taylor is another of Ellen's sisters.

Henry Taylor married Hannah Fry in 1844; Sarah married Edwin Dyment the same year.

So I have been looking for another Henry Taylor and I think the picture possibly refers to a Henry and Caroline Taylor who were living in Jas St (James St?) in 1841. Now trying to work out if they are mine too.
