SARAH ELIZABETH STARR
published by bevercombe on Tue, 25/09/2012 - 19:55

I am trying to find my great grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Matthews born 1869 in Hawkesbury Upton Glos.  I have found her in the 1891 census working as a domestic servant in Clevedon but thereafter can find no trace whatsoever of her or her family.  I have been told that she married a farmer called Mr Starr & had 2 daughters, Frances & Florence & that they lived in Uphill.  Apparently Florence married a butcher.  Any information or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Graham

Thank you so much for that information.  I tried so many different spellings & names eg Sarah, Sally, Matthews, Mathews, Mathewes & also Matheus but never thought of Lizzie as she was always referred to Aunt Sarah.  Yes, her father was Daniel Robert Matthews.

Many thanks for taking the time to look up this much sought-after information for me.

Hello Pat

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to look - we could be on to a winner here!  I think that I have also found them in the 1901 census under Tom & Lizzie Star (with one R).

Regards

Lesley
