Following the publication of the March Update I've had several queries about this photograph

It is of the Motor Transport Section, H.Q. Platoon, 8th Somerset Battn, Home Guard and was taken in November 1941.
The men are named as:
- Back Row (Left to Right) Vols. B. Snell, D. Weber, D. Snelgrove, S. Williams, S. Ball, F. Reynolds, W. J. Coles, H. Wheatley, L. Day, G. Snelgrove, J. Johns
- Middle Row: J. Drew, O. May, L. Manning, L/Cpl. J. Martin, Cpl. W. Stuckey, L/Cpl. H.Lovell, Vols. H. Dyer, M. Dare, F. Mitchell
- Front Row: Sgt. L. George, Sgt. G. Marshall, Pn. Sgt. F. Arlotte, Lieut. P. D. O’Connell (Platoon Cmdr) Capt. H. J. Ormerod (Adjt), C.Q.M.S. F.Hook , L/Sgt J.White, Sgt.F. Blackmore, Cpl..E.Stancer
- Sitting: L/Cpl. A. Hyndes, L/Cpl. H. Hess
The location of the photograph was being sought by Anthony Keyes (I will pass on any replies or comments) who would be really interested to learn more about any of the men pictured - his grandfather was Major P. D. O'connell, in the centre of the front row. We are now fairly certain that the picture was taken outside 26 Alexandra Parade. |
