St Martins, Worle


  St Martins church in Worle dates from 1125, but only the base of the tower and the inner arch of the south door porch are from that time. The church was rebuilt during the 14th and 15th centuries and there was major restoration and extension work in 1870.

The pulpit of the church dates from the mid 1500's and is made of Caen stone and has grapvine carvings.
The Altar is made of black marble inlaid with tiles.
The choir stalls on the south side of the chancel came from Woodspring Priory and are 600 years old and are richly carved.
The churches tower rebuilt in the 1500's on the original Norman base houses six bells .
